About Ballet Hispánico

For over 50 years, Ballet Hispánico has united communities by celebrating and exploring Latino culture through the art of dance. The organization, founded by Tina Ramirez, a National Medal of Arts recipient, was established to give voice to the Hispanic experience and challenge stereotypes. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispánico continues to champion social equity, cultural identity, and arts education.

A Contemporary Take on a Classic

As part of their Gogue Center appearance, Ballet Hispánico will perform CARMEN.maquia, a contemporary reimagining of Bizet’s timeless opera, Carmen. This Picasso-inspired production blends physically charged choreography with elements of the Spanish paso doble and flamenco, creating a sensual and visually stunning masterpiece.
