Application & Processing
Once you’ve chosen a lender, gotten pre-approval, and selected the property you want to buy, your lender will guide you through the process of completing a full mortgage application. The application is submitted to the lender’s processing team, who review the documents you submitted along with your credit report. An appraisal is typically ordered for the home.
The loan is then sent to your lender’s underwriters, who review and approve the entire loan if it meets and complies with standards. You may be asked for additional documents or clarification during the loan process – this is normal, and not cause for concern.
Closing: Finalizing the Deal
Once your mortgage is approved, sign up for homeowner’s insurance – your lender will probably require this. Documents for your mortgage, the property deed if applicable, and the contract to finalize purchase of your new home will be sent to the title company or title attorney’s office. There, you’ll sign for your new home and pay any remaining costs.
Your mortgage is recorded, and you get the keys. Congratulations, new homeowner – the process is complete!
